It’s Time to Pull Out

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt overwhelmed with the busyness of life? I’m sure, like most, you have. The task-filled days of making a living, attending school, and managing relationships are just a few of the responsibilities that have the potential to set our emotions a blaze and consume us like a raging fire.

However, it is important that we manage our lives well. In doing so, we won’t be reduced to ashes under the heated demands and pressures of life. In order to live life at a healthy pace, we must recognize the signs that lead to a burnout, and be intentional about setting boundaries for ourselves to prevent it altogether.

No one knows you better than you. That’s why you are responsible for calling the timeouts you need in life. Jesus is our perfect example of how to live life more abundantly. Matthew 14:23 says, “And when he had sent the multitude away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

” Each day, Jesus ministered to the masses; but often times He would pull away from the crowd to be alone with His Father, God. And if Jesus practiced pulling away from His earthly duties for a time of restoration, it would probably be wise for us to do the same.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” If you are on the verge of a burnout, now is the perfect time to schedule some much needed down time. I recommend that you pull away from the many responsibilities that you may be carrying to take care of your well-being. You can schedule a vacation or just get alone with God.

The time in solitude will refresh you, strengthen you, and give you a new perspective on life. So, without any sense of guilt, go ahead and rest. It’s time to pull out!

Lord, I thank you for being my resting place. Thank you that when this world becomes too much to bear, I can always come and lay at your feet. Thank you Lord, for the peace that is found in your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
