“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose-I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] Philippians 4:13 (AMP)
Here we are at the start of another year with hopes of many good things on the horizon. We’ve written down goals and have once again made promises to do life a little bit better. However, I’ve come to realize through the years, that change doesn’t come easy. It actually requires hard work. It requires the type of hard work that we’re usually not willing to put into practice for real change. Therefore, we often forfeit our goals and find ourselves in the same place year after year having made no progress at all. So what are the things you’d like to accomplish in this New year? Would you like to lose a few extra pounds or save some money? Or would you like to start a business or write a book? All of these are great goals. Yet, none of them will come to pass without putting in the work.
As I’ve set out to accomplish several goals of my own this year, including losing a few extra pounds, I’ve had to make a few adjustments and apply some extra effort in order to bring my goals to fruition. It’s the work I was talking about. I’ve once again started to exercise on a regular basis, restrict certain foods from my diet, and increase my water intake. To sum it all up, I’ve had to become more discipline, determined, and dedicated. However, that’s okay, because there can be no actual change unless something has changed. So what is the work you are willing to put in this year to bring your goals to pass?
Philippians 4:13 (AMP) says, “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose-I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] This verse reminds me that I am not alone in any endeavor and that Christ’s strength is available and working in me to cause me to be victorious in every circumstance. Whether I’m facing a difficult season in life or setting out to reach a personal goal, I can be assured that I am not doing it in my own strength, but in Christ which strengthens me.
With that in mind, I would like to encourage you to set or re-set a goal you would like to achieve this year and go for it. Realize that you have what it takes to bring your dreams to pass and that your goals for this New Year and every year going forward are attainable. Whatever you are trying to accomplish, just know that as long as it is in God’s will He will freely guide, assist, and strengthen you in meeting your goals. This year can be life changing for you if you are willing to make a few changes and put in the work.
Lord, thank you for the gift of life and the blessing of another year. Lord, thank you for the many blessings that are on the horizon and for the great plans you have for my life. Thank you for empowering me from on high to achieve every goal that’s in your will for my life. And more so, I pray that your purpose for my life shall prevail. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 3, 2022I so agree. Our Goals do require work. Whatever they may be, they are worthy of the hard work to make them into a true reality. Most of us don’t put the work in because we fail to see the value of the work itself. The Work Proves the Value of your Goal. I am just learning how to value myself so I could complete the Goal. The value you bring to yourself is part of the work necessary for completion. Oh what satisfaction each goal brings when competed. The Work is so worth it. Enjoy your day.

April 2, 2022I agree. I’m guilty of setting goals (or should I say ‘New Year’s Resolutions’) and not following through. This blog has encouraged me to pray and seek God’s guidance and direction as I re-set my goals for this year. Thank you for the encouraging blog, Montez!
